The View 10 is powered by Huawei’s latest Kirin 970 chipset along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage

At a launch event in London, Honor 7X was officially unveiled today. There is no waterproofing here, unfortunately, which is not that surprising, when you think of the price of the Honor 7X, but it would have been a nice surprise.

Honor says that the V10 will be released in the USA, as well as some other major markets like United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain on January 8, 2018. It is priced at €499 (£449) and will be available in Midnight Black and Navy Blue (no word on USA pricing or any future launch for the Gold or Red versions just yet, sorry!).

Buyers looking for a thin-bezeled bargain, meanwhile, can pick up the Honor 7x from today for just €299 (£269) in over 20 countries, including the US, UK, India, and across most of Europe. "It has a 5.99" FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and is powered by the Kirin 970 processor, which has a dedicated NPU and brings a ton of AI features to the View 10. Just like the recent Honor smartphones, this one also houses the fingerprint sensor on the aluminium back panel.

The talking point however is not the screen or its build, it's what's under the hood. It is powered by Octa-Core Kirin 659 processor with MaliT830-MP2 GPU.

For some reason, Honor has also included a business card scanning function in a phone aimed at the youth market. Both will include a microSD card slot for memory expansion. The Honor 7X does have a dual-camera setup, with a 16-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter.

The front facing camera is a 13 MP unit and is accompanied by a very Apple-esque 3D face recognition hardware and software. It also supports dual 4G and dual VoLTE along with other connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, IR Blaster, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port.

With fast charging, you will go from zero to a full battery in about one and a half hours, claims Honor, and, knowing their other handsets, we have no reason to doubt this claim. The Honor 7X's battery measures in at 3340mAh and it's running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box underneath Huawei's proprietary EMUI 5.1 user interface. It will be available in 128GB storage, 6 GB RAM variant and a 64 GB storage 4/6 GB RAM variant.

Honor's latest premium phone is gunning for the OnePlus 5T, with competitive specs, a matching price and AI camera features. The front camera is a 13MP sensor.
