Apple Pay Cash is on a slow rollout for iOS 11.2

New iOS 11.2 update brings Apple Pay Cash, fast wireless charging and tons of bug fixes

The pop-ups will now explain the change. iOS 11.2 has rolled out globally and we urge users to download the latest update, especially if they've found some of the bugs mentioned above.

Also, support for Apple Pay Cash is included in the update and will be available for all iPhones and iPads from the iPhone 5s and newer to the iPad mini 2 and newer.

Not every iPhone X is being blighted by such software problems, but the fact that it's happening at all to a £999 handset isn't good news and doesn't tally with Apple's old maxim of it "just works". A support document issued by Apple tells users to turn off notifications for all apps on the iDevice before installing iOS 11.2.

Apple Pay Cash was announced back in June at WWDC. But with Apple Pay Cash, all you have to do is open Messages and select the Apple Pay icon from the app drawer (a.k.a. that little row of app icons that shows up below the place where you compose your message).

After updating to iOS 11.2, some iPhone X users are reporting that Apple's facial recognition system Face ID is failing to work, according to 9to5Mac readers.

The Apple Pay Cash peer-to-peer payment service that was soft-launched in beta testing of iOS 11.2 has finally come around to the public, at least in the United States.

A number of security bugs are also addressed in the update, though Apple has yet to give details on those fixes.
