Derrick Rose May Require Surgery to Remove Bone Spur in Ankle

Significant members of the Cleveland Cavaliers could be returning soon

Since he took his leave of absence, the team has rattled off 13 straight wins, and have jumped back into second place in the East.

He declined to say where he was, what he did or whether he pondered retirement.

"I would like to say thanks to the whole franchise - (GM) Koby (Altman), the front office, the players, the coaches, the coaching staff - I'd like to say thank you for allowing me my privacy to keep my right state of mind and to keep my happiness", Rose said. I'm appreciative, I'm grateful to be on this team and like I said, just trying to take it one day at a time. "You'll go insane if you try to overthink it or think you're going to have a starting day and it's not there". Now it's just about getting healthy.

The same team official speaking on background said if Rose needs surgery, it would be after the season.

If Rose works his way back into form, it will only make the hottest team in the National Basketball Association better. Regardless, it's unclear what Rose's role on the team will be once he does return, considering that Isaiah Thomas will reportedly return before the end of the month and will seemingly handle the bulk of the minutes at point guard.

Cleveland still has Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert, each of whom played a key role in the Cavs' championship run two years ago.

Right now, though, the Cavs are banged up.

Despite the option of mid-season surgery being a possibility, McMenamin reported that the team believes he can play with the injury during the year while monitoring and dealing with any pain.

"Am I concerned? No, no". "Hoop and win. I don't care about all the other stuff that comes with it".

"It was good", Rose said. "I'll be able to hoop".

Rose started all seven games he has appeared in this season, and was third on the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game.
