Toyota employees step up for Salvation Army

The Salvation Army's proposed Centre of Hope is getting a $1-million boost, thanks to Fortis Inc. "It's really been a neat thing".

Last Friday, an unusual donation was dropped into the Salvation Army kettle at the Dave's County Market location.

Plus, toys and jackets were donated to make up for a shortfall of angel tree donations.

This year, the donated toys filled a Salvation Army box truck to the brim.

Saturday, December 23rd is the final day for the Red Kettle Campaign.

"They just wouldn't work out, they're just too expensive", said Flanagan.

The stores have been collecting donations all month long in red kettles, and now the donations will be used to help bring joy to children in need. Schuetz encourages people to consider The Salvation Army in its year-end contributions for tax-deductions. The toys were provided through the Toys for Tots drive and food through the West Ohio Food Bank.

"Generally speaking, the last week is usually the best", she said. Included with the check was a note that stated, "I pray that with the Grace of God you can double this by the end of the Salvation Army Bell Ringing Period".
