Royal sparks controversy after wearing 'racist' brooch to meet Meghan Markle

Prince Harry Meghan Markle

The brooch appears to be almost two inches in length and includes an antiquated deception of a black figure that many contend exoticizes people of color.

After the uproar over her brooch, Princess Michael's spokesman released a statement expressing remorse and vowed never to wear the blackamoor brooch again.

According to The Cut, Princess Michael - the wife of the Queen's cousin - wore a racist brooch to the lunch. Markle wore a gorgeous black Ralph & Russo gown with a sheer, embellished bodice and full tulle skirt from the designer's fall 2017 couture collection.

Princess Michael quickly earned criticism on social media. It was the first year Meghan Markle, newly engaged to Prince Harry, attended - and the first time she was formally introduced to many royal family members.

Markle is no stranger to racist responses to her presence in the royal family.

"I even pretended years ago to be an African, a half-caste African, but because of my light eyes I did not get away with it, but I dyed my hair black", she told ITV. I traveled on African buses.

It would be easier to look the other way if the princess didn't have history of racism-but she unfortunately does. In 2004, she reportedly told a group of black customers in a New York City restaurant to "go back to the colonies". And this is why, even if you want to call her a scheming prince-digger, I'm here for it.

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were confirmed as an item, Markle has been subjected to racially insensitive attacks ranging from offensive to downright vulgar.

Princess Michael, also dubbed "Princess Pushy", has issued an apology for wearing the brooch and claimed it was a gift that she has wore many times before.

"I always knew that when people who aren't like us claim that hereditary rank is not part of human nature, they must be wrong".
