Passenger bus falls into river in Sawai Madhopurs Dubi

According to sources, the bus broke through the bridge wall and plunged into the Banas River.

Most of the dead, including the bus driver, drowned, said state officials, and they feared that the death toll could increase. Most of the people died due to drowning including the bus driver, he added. Seven people were injured.

MLA from Sawai Madhopur, Diya Kumari, announced that single road bridge will be double-laned.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a statement that he was "anguished" by news of the crash. "I pray for peace for the departed souls and courage for the aggrieved family members to overcome the shock", the chief minister tweeted.
