Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo is the leading overall vote-getter with 863,416 votes over the 12-day period, while Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James received 856,080.

The first results of the Eastern Conference All-Star voting were released Friday (AEDT) with Giannis Antetokounmpo sitting just ahead of LeBron James, and the Bucks star already knows who he would draft first to be on his team. Antetokounmpo is averaging 29.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks, but is a career 27.6 per cent shooter on threes in his fifth season. The fan vote, measured above, is worth 50 percent of the voting, while players and certain media members will also submit ballots, which will be worth 25 percent each. The captains will be the All-Star starter from each conference who receives the most fan votes in his conference, and the rosters will be chosen by the two captains. And the captains will then select players from either conference.

Joining Antetokounmpo and James, a 13-time All-Star, at the top of the Eastern Conference frontcourt are Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers (433,161) and Kristaps Porzingis of the New York Knicks (359,459). Irving and Toronto's DeMar DeRozan (259,368) were the top two guards.

The next round of fan voting will be announced January 11 when things will start to get more interesting.

But Simmons' sister Olivia took to Twitter on Wednesday in an effort to boost his chances of becoming the first Australian-raised National Basketball Association player to make an all-star game.
