H&M apologises for monkey image featuring black child

H&M apologises for monkey goof on black kid

As previously reported, the Weeknd struck up a partnership with H&M past year, developing his own fashion line for the Swedish retail giant.

Global fast fashion provider H&M has been accused of racism following photo of a young black boy wearing "coolest monkey in the jungle", across his chest.

"Im sure the apologies are a coming". "And the ads will be pulled".

As reported earlier today, the racially insensitive image, which was posted on H&M's United Kingdom retail site as "printed hooded top", sparked social media outrage over the weekend and was subsequently deleted. The ad appeared on the Swedish retailer's British online store.

H&M apologises for monkey goof on black kid

"This image has now been removed from all H&M channels and we apologise to anyone this may have offended", H&M told Daily News. "We believe in diversity and inclusion in all that we do and will be reviewing all our internal policies accordingly to avoid any future issues".

Alex Medina, who works in brand design, said it was negligent to place a black child in a top with such a slogan, while white children wore others.

Brown tweeted directly at H&M: "this is disgusting & irresponsible".

Obviously monkey-references have long-since been at the forefront of racial slurs targeting people of African descent and the Canadian-Ethiopian singer wasn't having it.
