Rare announces Sea of Thieves closed beta dates

Sea of Thieves Closed Beta Coming January 24-29! - Xbox Wire

Fans will be able to access the Beta by pre-ordering the game, it will be also available to those who have already joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Program before December 1 of previous year. The devs ask that you tag the content "Sea of Thieves" so they can see it as well.

For the piratical gamers who want to pick up one of these controllers, you can pre-order one now for $75.

Sea of Thieves' next open beta has been detailed by developer Rare.

As for who is eligible for joining the closed beta, only Xbox One and Windows 10 players that have pre-ordered the game as well as those who joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Program before December 1 will have access. We won't be testing the full game during this Closed Beta phase: we want to keep a good selection of things up our sleeves for players to discover at launch.

The closed beta will be a "bespoke" experience according to Rare and it will give players a taste of the pirate action ahead of the launch. Once you have done this, the game will appear in your games library 24 hours before the Closed Beta begins. Players are free to stream, create videos, share clips, take screenshots or do anything else their minds come up with. We're back working hard on Sea of Thieves after the holidays and a December chock-full of announcements.

Sea of Thieves releases on Xbox One and PC on March 20th, 2017.
