A massive natural disaster of magnitude 7.6 struck north of Honduras in the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday, sparking a tsunami warning in the area, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

The quake, which struck about 125 miles north of Honduras shook the mainland, but there were no early reports of serious damage or casualties.

Tsunami warning centers initially issued advisories stressing that people in Puerto Rico, the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Jamaica and other Caribbean islands as well as on the coasts of Mexico and Central America should aware of the tsunami danger.

Report says the region near Honduras is regularly hit by powerful earthquakes.

The tsunami warning were in effect for two hours and then the advisories were withdrawn.
