James Damore sues Google, claims tech giant discriminates against white conservative men

Google Memo Author James Damore Sues Company For Discrimination Against White Males

James Damore, the Google engineer who was sacked after arguing that the gender gap in tech may be partially explained by sex differences among men and women, just filed a class-action lawsuit against Google in the Santa Clara, Calif., Superior Court.

Five months after he was sacked for violating the company's code of conduct, Damore and David Gudeman, another former Google engineer, filed a lawsuit in Santa Clara Superior Court.

Another portion of the filing reads, "Google employs illegal hiring quotas to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas - in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others".

In a 10-page memo titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber", James Damore, 28, criticized Google's diversity programs and argued women are underrepresented in tech because they are biologically inferior.

Now, Damore is suing Google for what he alleges is the company's discrimination against white male conservatives.

Ex-employee James Damore files lawsuit after being fired; William La Jeunesse has the latest details on the case.

The suit goes on to explain how the Leftist mob mentality perpetuated and encouraged at Google led to some of the employees who harassed Damore being promoted for their actions, while certain blacklists were also formed against those who identified as Conservatives or supported President Donald Trump.

The suit includes as evidence of discrimination a meeting held in March ("Women's History Month") in which two women, Ruth Porat, the Chief Financial Officer of Google, and Eileen Naughton, the Human Resources Director of Google.

In fact, in one segment of the lawsuit, the diversity summit breaks down how Google sought to hire more "diverse" individuals who weren't white or Asian...

"We look forward to defending against Mr Damore's lawsuit in court", a Google spokesperson told The Register.

Gudeman worked for Google for three years before being terminated over comments he made on an internal company chat board in which he questioned whether a Muslim coworker really had been targeted by the Feds for investigation.

The company, which called the memo "offensive" and "harmful", fired Damore, further elevating him as a victim of what his supporters called an overreaching "political correctness" and ideology rigidity within the tech industry.

During a press tour after his firing, Damore said being conservative at Google was comparable to "being gay in the 1950s".

All this means busy times ahead for Google's legal department, which is also fighting a resurgent discrimination lawsuit brought by ex-Googlers upset they were being stiffed on pay and promotions due to being women. Dhillon said she expects dozens of other conservative Google staffers to join the class-action suit.
