Ozil close to new Arsenal deal

Bild report that Ozil will stay at Arsenal in order to link up with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

The BBC's David Ornstein has confirmed that Mesut Ozil has signed a new deal which will keep him at Arsenal until 2021.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who was due to be out of contract in the summer, has reportedly become the highest paid player at the Emirates, earning £350,000-a-week before tax. BBC Sport are reporting that the German 2014 World Cup victor has agreed a three-year deal until the summer of 2021 and will earn a whopping £350,000-a-week before tax ($495,950) - a massive increase from his current £140,000-a-week deal.

All this comes with the news that Aubameyang has officially been announced as an Arsenal player via the club's Twitter feed and website.

The Gabon worldwide signed a three year deal at the Emirates for a fee believed to be in the region of £56 million.

Amid growing speculation of a new contract at Arsenal, Ozil tweeted: 'Had a busy day signing things'. Hopefully, we will manage to do that very soon."I am not close enough to be optimistic but not far enough to be pessimistic."The vibe I get from his commitment, focus and desire, he behaves like someone who is ready to commit".

He joined Arsenal in the summer of 2013 from Real Madrid for a then record fee of £42.5 million. After that, contract negotiations are what they are.

And Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hinted last week that the Germany global could stay, he said: "Our intention is to keep Ozil at the club".
