Jammu on red alert after JeM terrorists attack army camp injuring 2

Jammu's Inspector General of Police SD Singh Jamwal said suspicious movement was noticed at around 4.55 am on Saturday.

An Army Camp in Jammu's Sunjwan is under attack by terrorists, who barged into the barracks early on Saturday morning. "Deeply disturbed by the terrorist attack in Sunjwan today".

Army officials told IBNS that a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), a non-commissioned officer (NCO) and two children were killed and four army men injured in the ongoing attack.

The area was cordoned off after the arrival of the Army's special forces and the Special Operations Group.

The administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions within 500 metres of the camp.

Meanwhile, a high alert has been sounded in Jammu and security beefed up in and around the city.

The attack comes after the intelligence agencies had warned of the possibility a terror strike in view of the death anniversary of Afzal Guru who was hanged on February 9, 2013. 2 injured, one Hawaldar & his daughter.

"The security forces are meticulously planning the operation to avoid casualties as families of soldiers and officers are present in the residential quarters", sources said. Three fidayeen are believed to be inside the army camp.

It is also the second attack on army installation in Jammu in two years.

The Minister said the exact number of Fidayeen is still not known but as per the initial call received at Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu at around 0455 hours this morning, four to five militants are involved in the attack.
