During the fight, she was allegedly kicked in the stomach by one of the assaulters, who was a local communist leader.

A profusely bleeding Sibi was rushed to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, where she had to undergo an abortion. Her husband and gor into a tussle with the accused men over an alleged land dispute. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. The main culprit in the case is still roaming free. "Even then their threats did not stop", the victim was quoted as saying by Times Now. The family had been protesting in front of the police station by erecting a temporary shed alleging that the police had not arrested all the accused under CPM pressure.

"The local party workers are coming here daily, asking me to withdraw the complaint against Thampy", woman's husband said referring to the CPM leader. "I have chose to sit in front of the police station demanding justice", the woman's husband told TOI.
