VP Pence: Joy Behar called and apologized so I forgave her

Joy Behar

After Vice President Mike Pence revealed "The View" co-host called him to apologize for making jokes about his faith in an interview on Monday night, he pressured her to do the same on her show.

Last month Behar derided Pence for saying he communicates with Jesus through prayer. "It's another thing when Jesus talk to you", Behar jumped in to add. "Specifically, do you think, like Mrs. Hostin and Mrs. Behar, that the Christian faith is akin to a risky mental illness?"

Meanwhile, there was a pressure campaign started by the Media Research Center over Behar's comments which resulted in tens of thousands of calls to ABC.

Last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger became the first person to break the news that Behar had made an apology to Pence.

"I give Joy Behar a lot of credit", he went on.

On a Tuesday episode of the daytime talk show, co-host Behar reiterated the apology she made to the vice president in a private phone call. "She called me. She was very honest, and she apologized and one of the things my faith teaches me is grace; forgive as you've been forgiven", Pence told Hannity...

Behar has apologized to @VP Pence, but refuses to apologize ON AIR to the millions of Christians she insulted.

Behar garnered outrage from many for her comments on an episode of "The View" that aired February 13 in which she and her co-hosts discussed former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman's criticisms of Pence on the reality TV show "Celebrity Big Brother". "I was raised to respect everyone's religious faith, and I fell short of that". "I said to Joy, 'Of course, I forgive you".

Behar and Hostin's comments about the Vice President and Christians expose what many consider religious intolerance among voices in the mainstream media and entertainment.

"I thought it was important that I defend the faith of tens of millions of Americans against that kind of slander, and I did so", Pence said, with self-congratulatory vigor while appearing on Fox with Sean Hannity. "He encouraged her to make the same apology publicly on the show that she did privately to him".

The Post report noted that as of March 8, Behar had not publicly apologized to Pence on The View. When she did, Graham updated his post: "Thank you, Joy - I accept your apology".

"We would be begging for the days of Trump back if Pence became president". He added that he was glad she apologized and that he "takes exception" to the comments.
