Teddy Bridgewater agrees to a one-year deal with the Jets

Bridgewater Signs New Deal With Jets

All signs point toward free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins signing a three-year contract with the Vikings, it's on to Plan B for the Jets.

Tuesday the Jets signed former Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million.

Prior to the injury, Bridgewater had the full support of Minnesota's coaching staff as a popular breakout candidate.

The 38-year-old New York Jets quarterback chose to rejoin the Jets after agreeing to the one-year deal earlier this week.

The New York Jets enter the 2018 offseason with many holes to fix on a young and rebuilding squad.

The Jets will have five quarterbacks under contract after the official signings of Josh McCown and Terry Bridgewater, and that number could increase.

It is unclear if the Jets will also consider drafting a quarterback with the sixth overall pick next month. One of his two snaps went for an interception, and he has not completed a pass since the 2015 season. The 25-year old QB reportedly has multiple options but he is the Jets' first choice of the remaining free agent quarterbacks on the market. It remains to be seen what will happen in the now crowded situation at quarterback, but the main piece to bring back was indeed McCown.

Bridgewater missed all of the 2016 season after tearing his ACL and dislocating his knee. Since being cleared for play, Bridgewater has only taken two snaps. His final season at Louisville included a tremendous 31 touchdowns to only four interceptions. They had the most money to offer and he wouldn't even come to New Jersey for a visit. That said, NY is signing a quality talent who's still only 25 years old and has been free from the rigors of taking hits from National Football League defenders for two years.

Making those moves gets you down to a little more than $20 million a year, leaving you money to make a few smaller moves, sign your draft picks and have some money left over for the season.
