Is President Trump Ditching National Security Advisor HR McMaster?

Kelly tries to reassure White House staffers: No more personnel moves for now

"You guys would like us to be focused on" the White House cabinet chaos, but National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, who is reported by WaPo to be next on the chopping block, is focused on "big issues", Sanders insisted.

During a freakish off-the-record briefing Friday, Kelly told a handful of reporters that Tillerson was on the toilet suffering from a stomach bug when he informed him that he was getting canned, three sources with knowledge of the matter told the Daily Beast.

Chief of staff John Kelly, himself the subject of rumours that his days are numbered, assured a group of staffers their jobs were safe, at least for now. The retired four-star general later reminded staff they are serving their country and have important work to do, the officials said, and told them no shakeup was forthcoming.

Chief of Staff John Kelly announced that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was on the toilet when he told him he was about to be fired.

With a laugh, Trump said: "Who's next?"

His economic nationalism became the lynchpin of Trump policies, even as many of his other ideas were rebuffed by policy rivals.

'I've gotten to know a lot of people over the last there will always be change, but very little'.

In private conversations in recent weeks, Trump has reflected on his desire to reshape the administration.

Trump was said to be deeply irritated and to have considered firing Kelly over the negative publicity surrounding his handling of the controversy over ousted White House aide Rob Porter, who was accused of domestic abuse. Though the drumbeat of the ongoing Russian Federation probe has only grown louder, the president believes that his recent decisions on tariffs and North Korea have breathed new life into his administration, and he is eager to take more bold steps that make his own mark.

Trump and McMaster were also in meetings together on Friday, the press secretary added. Should we believe the reports and the sources cited in those reports, or should we wait until the White House confirms McMaster is staying? The president was speaking to friends outside the administration about his frustrations with advisers, Mr Kelly suggested.

The President is absolutely fine with the outside conversation focusing on staff rumors inside the West Wing, fueling much of it himself while enjoying the speculation.
