Huawei P20 Pro launch - United Kingdom release date, price and full specs REVEALED

Huawei P20, P20 Pro launch LIVE UPDATES: Expected price, specs, and features

At an launch event held today in Paris, Huawei unveiled the much-anticipated HUAWEI P20 and HUAWEI P20 Pro.

The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery - the same battery capacity as the Huawei Mate 10 series, which has received much acclaim from tech critics, on youtube there are many videos that demonstrate this battery life is unbeatable by ANY smartphone now available.

The all-new Huawei P20 Pro and P20 phones boasts a NPU (Neural Processing Unit), paving the way for the use of AI apps on the smartphone. This is worth pointing out, because the last time that we had a smartphone camera with such a high resolution was the Nokia Lumia 1020, and the problem with that is that it could take over five seconds to snap a photo.

The P20 Pro is impressive. It would be interesting to see how the cameras on the P20 Pro stacks against the Pixel 2. At the time, the innovation pointed the way toward in-display fingerprint sensor technology, which was widely anticipated to be the big mobile innovation of 2017.

Information on pricing, models available and other details will only be revealed closer to the local launch for individual markets. The company says that despite the turmoil, it has "earned the trust of our partners across the global value chain", according to a Huawei spokesman. With the dual-lens Leica camera, the P20 is pretty straightforward, but with the P20 Pro, things start to get a little nuts.

Huawei P20 features a 5.8-inch screen with same resolution (2240x1080 pixels) alongside dual rear cameras comprising of 20MP+12MP setup. Huawei has added features such as four-way autofocus with the help of PDAF, Laser, Contrast and Depth direction. They can capture slow-motion footage at 960fps for super-slow-motion videos. In addition, it has a 24-megapixel front selfie camera.

Lastly, the Huawei P20 packs in a 3400 mAh battery which draws power from a USB Type-C port.

Huawei P20, P20 Pro launch LIVE UPDATES: Expected price, specs, and features

It looks like Huawei's P-Series is here to stay in Canada. The phablet is 152.9 x 72.5 x 85.mm in size and comes with a 6-inch 18:9 screen which doesn't have a notch, as well as a unique Red color option, albeit one that will be available exclusively in China. Huawei also placed the fingerprint to the front the phone below the display, and it features the same processor as the standard P20. Huawei P20 and P20 Pro have been awarded the highest DxOMark ranking to date. A premium device designed with Porsche Design, it has the same Leica triple-camera system as the P20 Pro. The camera configuration is comprised of a 40-megapixel RGB sensor, a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor with telephoto lens.

The primary sensor is a 40MP RBG sensor which is backed up by a 20MP secondary monochrome sensor. The P20 Pro has a colour spectrum sensor and also has a maximum ISO of 102,400.

And something called 4D predictive focus can magically work out where a movement is taking place and track it - giving users blur-free photos.

While the quality of the zoom seems to be represented better in the P20 Pro, the iPhone X definitely handles a tricky lighting situation better. Both will run on Android 8.1, and while the company's Emotion UI remains, it said this and future phones will move towards a stock Android look and feel.

The Huawei P20 Pro is the beefed-up version of the Huawei P20.

With the Huawei P10 you can get Mystic Silver, Rose Gold, Graphite Black, Dazzling Gold, Dazzling Blue and Greenery shades, while the Huawei P20 comes in Black, Champagne Gold, Twilight, Pink Gold and Midnight Blue.
