Landry told reporters the two Baton Rouge officers gave verbal instructions and tried non-lethal methods to subdue Sterling. I know the Sterling family is hurting.
Following the conclusion of the state's two-year investigation into the death of Alton Sterling, Louisiana Attorney General, Jeff Landry announced that both Blane Salamoni and Howard Lake would not receive any criminal charges for shooting Alton Sterling. His cause of death was deemed a homicide caused by gunshot wounds to his heart, lung, esophagus and liver.
Sterling's relatives and their attorneys assailed the decision, noting that they would continue pressing the case through a civil lawsuit filed previous year. This was a family man.
The lack of charges hardly come as a surprise. However, attorneys L. Chris Stewart and Brandon DeCuir, who represent Sterling's five children, said Landry is to meet Tuesday morning with Sterling's relatives and their lawyers in Baton Rouge. Sterling was black and both officers are white. "He was murdered like an animal", she said.
The shooting came amid increased scrutiny of fatal encounters between police and black men.
Sterling's death in Baton Rouge was one of a number of killings of black men by white officers that helped fuel the Black Lives Matter movement and raised questions about racial bias in US policing. Another 32 officers were convicted of a crime, half through guilty pleas and the other half by juries, though several were convicted of lesser charges, Stinson said. She added Landry's decision is "not the last word" in the case. He then shot him three more times as Sterling sat up on his back.

Attorneys for Sterling's relatives have said federal authorities told them Salamoni pointed a gun at Sterling's head and threatened to kill him before the struggle began.
The killing was captured on cellphone video and circulated widely online, sparking demonstrations across Baton Rouge.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is expected to announce his decision about potential state criminal charges against two police officers in the Alton Sterling case.
During a news conference also on Tuesday, Quinyetta McMillon, mother of of one of Sterling's children, reportedly said that the way the officers killed the 37-year-old was "in cold blood". Today's announcement is the latest sign that we have a lot of work to do in regard to criminal justice and policing reform. Until this is done, many young black men and women will be forced to fear any non-threatening action they take could be met with certain death. The next day Philando Castile was shot and killed in Minnesota by police officer and the aftermath was streamed on Facebook by his girlfriend.
California's attorney general said Tuesday that at the Sacramento police chief's request, his office would "provide independent oversight" of the probe into Clark's death.
