Nokia 1 Android Go Edition launched in India at Rs 5499: Specs, availability

The Android Go ecosystem promises to deliver an optimised experience in budget smartphones and comes with lightweight versions of Google apps and services, such as Gmail Go and Google Maps Go. The phone itself is available in color options of Dark Blue and Warm Red. This is a dual SIM phone with 4G connectivity and packs in a 2150 mAh battery.

Finnish multinational company HMD Global finally launched India's first Android Oreo Go Edition-powered smartphone Nokia 1 on Monday.

Nokia 1 price is said to be Rs 5499 in India. The phone comes with modest specifications and is aimed towards developing markets, and in India, this is the second Android Go phone to be launched, after the Lava Z50.

Nokia 1 comes with interchangeable Xpress-on covers which are available in a range of colors. That includes a 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor that works in conjugation with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of native storage.

The device was first announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February 2018 in Barcelona. The device will be up for sale from March 28.

The Nokia 1 is eligible for the Reliance Jio Football Offer, which means buyers can get an instant cashback of Rs.2,200 on the smartphone, bringing its effective price down to Rs.3,299. Since the phone is made out of plastic, the phone's back can be personalized with the so-called Xpress On covers that will be sold separately at a price of Rs. 450/-, starting from April 2018.

Coming to the camera department, the Nokia 1 features a 5MP primary camera with an LED flash.

According to the reports of FirstPost, HMD Global is also providing Nokia 1 users with complimentary 12 month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify on opening of a Kotak 811 savings account and activating it with an initial deposit if Rs 1,000 during the introductory period. You can expand the storage further by up to 128GB, thanks to a dedicated microSD card slot. Other features of the Nokia 1 include dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Global Positioning System. It has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor. There are also data saving features built into Chrome Go which saves up to 60% of data.
