GoPro Introduces Entry-Level Hero Camera for $199

New entry-level Go Pro Hero camera on sale

GoPro has added a new HERO camera to its family and announced the launch of entry-level GoPro Hero Camera at Rs 18,990.

The GoPro Hero action camera is available today on the company's website.

"HERO is a great first GoPro for people looking to share experiences beyond what a phone can capture", says Meghan Laffey, GoPro's SVP of Product, "HERO makes it easy to share "wow" moments at a price that's ideal for first-time users". But the new Hero has been simplified and abridged to make it easier to use and to bring the price way down.

The HERO is outfitted with a 2-inch touch display and can be controlled through voice commands, which can be used to have it snap a photo, stop recording, or turn off.

GoPro's other cameras include the $399 Hero6 Black, the $299 Hero5 Black and the Fusion 360-camera priced at $699.

The new GoPro HERO shoots 1440p60 and 1080p60 videos and 10-megapixel stills. It lacks 4K video capture or slo-mo, but you can get 1440p at 60fps, which should serve well for most simple shots. For just $199, the new Hero forgoes certain features found on its more expensive siblings. GoPro says that this is a 10MP camera, which should be able to take some solid images. As you can probably guess, existing accessories from GoPro will also work with this unit.

Memories captured on the GoPro HERO are transferred to the GoPro app on a smartphone or tablet, saving you the trouble of working with memory cards or having to plug the camera into a computer. Woodman has spoken at length with the press and on company earnings calls in recent months about how important 2018 will be for GoPro when it comes to resetting expectations.
