Minority status to the Lingayats only election stunt: Shah

Karnataka Congress screening committee meeting underway

With the notification of the poll schedule in Karnataka, the much-awaited contest between the Congress and the BJP is set to engage the nation's attention for the next six weeks. "It continued when the Janata government came to power at the Centre and we again had Congress here".

The 224-member assembly expires on May 28 in the state where the Congress is now in power, with 122 seats against the BJP's 43. Other than BJP and Congress, JD (S) will also be competing the polls.

BJP president Amit Shah welcomed the announcement, saying that the party would come to power with a thumping majority under the leadership of state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa.

The Election Commission Tuesday announced that voting to elect a new Karnataka Assembly will be held May 12 and results will be declared May 15, setting the ball rolling for one of the most prestigious battles between the Congress and the BJP.

Of course, it is important for the Congress to somehow hold the State.

The Election Commission has roped in cricketer Rahul Dravid to create awareness about the elections. "But it is certainly true that the people of Karnataka vote differently for state elections and for the centre. Surprising that @ECI_India exonerates BJP IT Head, who initiated "Date Leak" & constitutes an inquiry thereafter".

Check out this detailed information about the controversy of leaked details of Karnataka Election 2018. KPCC President G Parameshwara said in a tweet. Gowda has a personal score to settle with Siddaramiah, the latter having deserted him for the Congress when Gowda preferred his son for chief ministership over him. "Question is - Why no question from BJP IT head?" "EC Social Media hub will look into the allegations of harnessing of user information through mobile applications of political parties and political personalities", Rawat said.

Web casting of 3,000 to 6,000 polling stations based on feasibility and sensitivity will be done, Kumar said, adding that work was on for integration of election monitoring facilities under one platform. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said alleged that there is collusion between BJP and the Election Commision and the proof is the tweet of Malviya. While the BJP has stepped up campaigning as the polls draw nearer, the people are focusing on every bit of news coming out of the southern state.
