President Trump Called Roseanne Barr to Congratulate Her on Show

U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated Roseanne Barr on her sitcom reboot success

Roseanne Barr held for the President of the United States yesterday as he called to congratulate her on her show reboot's success, the comedy star told Good Morning America Thursday by phone as she was headed to the airport.

Barr, a vocal supporter of Trump's policies, told the New York Times she wanted to tell the story of families "torn apart" by political differences and "how and why [working-class families] elected Trump".

Of course, it's not like Trump is just some TV ratings nerd who's happy for Roseanne in the abstract. It's not hard to see why Trump is incredibly high on Roseanne Barr right now. Barr said the President congratulated her on the ratings, which is something Trump knows quite a bit about after his Apprentice shows, which had a long run on TV. Trump did so after the reports indicated that 18.2 million people gravitated toward ABC on Tuesday night.

"I think he voices them quite well", she argued.

After generating massive ratings and viewership for its premiere episode, there's a buzz about a succeeding #season for the revival.

On the revived "Roseanne", her pro-Trump stance put Roseanne at odds with her sister, Jackie (Metcalf), who supported Hillary Clinton and hysterically spewed hatred at anyone who did not.

Barr has always been an outspoken and hawkish Israel advocate on social media, sometimes sparking fights, as in November 2015, when she called a writer for the liberal daily Haaretz a "privileged fat skinhead" over his call for French Jews to stay in France.

More than two decades since the last episode of "Roseanne" aired, the sitcom returned to screens across the pond earlier this week.

Barr said she and the rest of the cast were hoping the ratings would justify a renewal of the reboot, meaning you should expect the Roseanne revival to continue.

Kimmel praised Barr for depicting a family that is split politically in the new show.

In this image released by ABC, Roseanne Barr, left, and John Goodman appear in a scene from the reboot of "Roseanne", premiering on Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST.

She added that she's not an apologist for the president and doesn't agree with all he's said and done.
