US To Sanction Russian Oligarchs With Ties To Putin

The US authorities are planning a new package of sanctions against Russian oligarchs, which will be announced later this week.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation team in the Russia probe is questioning Russian oligarchs; some sources say that sanctions might be introduced this week, USA media reported.

President Donald Trump has been criticized for failing to punish Russian Federation for the interference of the president elections against the ongoing investigation by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller about whether the head of state's election campaign has had unlawful relations with power in Moscow. It was unclear if he had his devices scanned.

Investigators want to know whether wealthy Russians funneled cash - directly or indirectly - into the Trump campaign or the president's inauguration fund, CNN said.

The U.S. will reportedly lay out new sanctions against Russian oligarchs this week as part of the Trump administration's response to Moscow's efforts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The revelation signals that Mueller is aggressively exploring a broad range of angles into whether there was any type of coordination between the Russian government and Trump's campaign. One option being discussed with the president is to have him answer questions in writing and avoid a sit-down interview completely, sources said.

"We're not aware of this", Cobb told the Daily News Wednesday afternoon. He's particularly interested in Russian investments in think tanks and political-action committees that donated to Trump's campaign, and in "straw donors", or American citizens who fielded Russian money to skirt campaign finance laws.

Wealthy business leaders in Russian Federation often operate at the Kremlin's behest or, at the very least, with its blessing.
