G League call-up Andre Ingram scores 19 in National Basketball Association debut for Lakers

Andre Ingram

Ingram, the 14th oldest rookie in league history, made his debut after playing 384 games - a full decade - in the developmental G League, including parts of the past six years with the Lakers own affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. Rockets star Chris Paul made his way over to Ingram as he entered the floor in the first quarter to congratulate him.

Lakers icon Bryant tweeted footage of Ingram's highlights and added the caption: "LOVE IT".

He even nailed his first shot from outside the arc. "Nonetheless to an individual, all people was like, 'Whilst you get it, merely let it go!' The entire avid gamers, the entire coaches". I just wanted to feel it.

"I kept coming back because I genuinely thought I was close", Ingram said.

Paul, who top-scored with 22 points for the Rockets, spoke to Ingram - the subject of MVP chants from Lakers fans - at the scorers' table during the match.

Ingram had flown his wife and two daughters in from Virginia to watch the culmination of their work.

"Once I talked to Magic and everything, I was, I don't know, just emotions were flowing, and I didn't want to stop it", he said, referring to Lakers president Magic Johnson.

Andre Ingram, left, at Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA, USA, April 10. Ten years in the D League, but it wasn't like 10 hateful years or years I didn't enjoy.

Lakers teammate Isaiah Thomas and Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin - who might be the poster child for players who've emerged from the NBA's minor league and made an unforgettable National Basketball Association debut - were among several National Basketball Association players who took note of Ingram's "impressive" night. "I enjoyed my time in the league and all of my teammates, and I heard from every one of them".

Ingram has to somehow come up with an encore in the Lakers' season finale against the LA Clippers on Wednesday. "But so thankful it did".
