Patriots' Tom Brady has not committed to playing in 2018

Bill Belichick could use 2018 NFL Draft to execute his most ruthless act yet

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the five-time Superbowl victor is yet to give the Patriots any assurances that he will return for the 2018 season.

While he hasn't reportedly committed, it is believed that he will be playing next season.

Tom Brady has taken less money for years, but maybe his attitude has changed. It's not the first time he has missed part of the offseason program; it also happened in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The Eagles won.Foles stole the glory from a future Hall of Famer and helped the Eagles win their first-ever Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots do not just have to worry about star tight end Rob Gronkowski returning for 2018. While he didn't win his sixth Super Bowl, he was able to throw for over 500 yards in the game, as the Patriots losing wasn't his fault at all. I'm excited for Carson to get back on his feet. He has previously said he thinks he can play into his mid-40s. I'm signed for one more year and I love the team and I love the city.

Aside from Brady, the Patriots only have veteran Brian Hoyer in their quarterback depth chart. This should make it even more likely that New England looks for a quarterback early in this year's draft. Last offseason, Brady reiterated that his goal was to play until he was 45 years old. But when packaged together, perhaps with other picks from the second or third round, the Patriots have the necessary assets to trade up and find their new signal-caller of the future, should they deem it necessary. Schefter also said many around the league expect the Patriots to use one of their high draft picks on a quarterback in the NFL Draft, which starts Thursday.
