Idris Elba to play a struggling DJ in upcoming Netflix comedy series

Netflix announces EMEA originals

Netflix is going into business with Idris Elba.

As reported by Variety, Netflix has ordered a comedy series starring Elba entitled Turn Up Charlie.

Elba will play a struggling DJ and "eternal bachelor" who takes a job as a "manny" for his famous best friend's "problem-child daughter". As of yet, no other casting has been announced.

The series will be executive produced by Elba, Reich and Tristram Shapeero. Martin Joyce and Ana Garanito will co-exec produce. So he wasn't actually amusing per se in the role, but the veteran actor also stars and created the United Kingdom comedy In The Long Run. Georgia Lester (Hollyoaks) will also write and serve as the supervising producer.
