Meet the new Moto G6 and Moto E5: Motorola's latest affordable smartphones

Moto Z Play receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update in India

However, the Moto G6 is the powerful among them with Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 on-board.

Motorola's decision to unveil Moto E5 and E5 Plus at the same time as the new Moto G6 family of phones is a debatable one.

On the Moto G6 side of things, we have the Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play. The most expensive one, the G6, will cost $249.

Motorola has especially lavished a lot of attention on those cameras. We'll update as soon as we know more.

The Moto E5 has the same 13 MP camera with an F/2.0 on the rear, as the bigger E5 plus.

Motorola hasn't released a specific date when the phones will be available, only saying consumers should expect to be able to buy them in late Spring. Motorola does add some handy software experiences though.

The Moto E5 Plus will be available in May for €169.

For a shade less than £220 you get a crisp 5.7-inch Full HD+ screen in a body narrower and only slightly taller than its predecessor's. Plastic shouldn't be the buzzword for disappointment that it has become, but this particular application in the E5 Play isn't satisfying in a soft-touch kind of way, nor does it feel particularly sturdy. I'll be testing out the Moto G6's camera when I get my hands on a review unit. However, if you don't want to wait, you can check for the update manually by heading over to the Settings System updates menu. The Moto G6 Play is the bottom of the stack with a Snapdragon 430 and 3GB of RAM and also gets a 5.7-inch display. The fingerprint scanner is present at the back itself. And it'll have the right bands for whatever carrier orders it. All these phones come with 18:9 display and run on Android 8.0 Oreo.

What's the downside? That screen is not very sharp, and also not very bright. The USP of the Moto E5 Plus is the 5000mAh battery, and the phone thankfully also ships with TurboCharge technology. That's because the odd duck out, from my perspective, is the Moto E5 Play. The Moto E5, meanwhile, comes with a 5.2-inch HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425/427 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage which is again, expandable. To the front there is a 5 MP camera with an LED flash.

Like other Moto phones, it features P2i water-repellent nano coating. Its clean Android 8.0 build, and Motorola's reputation for reliability, may make the difference here.

The moto eplus will be available in the United Kingdom from early June at a starting price of £149 and will be available from Amazon and selected Independent resellers. The display has an 18:9 aspect ratio and is protected under unspecified version of Gorilla Glass. The three phones come with 15 W Turbo Charger, to top up the batteries quickly. It has 3000 mAh battery with Turbo Charging.

The phone has dual camera setup with 12 megapixels and 5 megapixels sensors along with LED flash. Megapixels aren't everything and this camera comes with a wider f/1.8 aperture, which should mean better photos in low light. It has a single rear camera with a 13MP sensor and an 8MP front facing sensor.

"The Moto G6 Play comes with a 5.7" HD+ IPS LCD display with a 720x1440p resolution.

While largely inferior to the Moto G6 in terms of hardware, one aspect in which the Moto G6 Play convincingly beats its sibling is its battery capacity as the handset is powered by a 4,000mAh cell as opposed to a 3,000mAh one.
