Miami Dolphins select TE Mike Gesicki with the 42nd pick in the 2018 NFL Draft

Penn State's Mike Gesicki is expected to immediately challenge for the Miami Dolphins' starting tight end job as a rookie. Last season, despite some offensive inefficiencies out of his control, Ridley still led the team with 63 receptions for 967 yards.

"Does (Gesicki) jump out of the gym or what?" asked Rich Eisen of the NFL Network, noting Gesicki's 41.5-inch vertical jump at the Combine.

"The one thing everyone talks about is him not being a great blocker", Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said.

If you like athleticism at the tight end position, Gesicki is your guy. Miami now has MarQueis Gray, A.J. Derby, Thomas Duarte and the recently signed Gavin Escobar at the position, none of whom is a bonafide starter.

Gesicki boosted his National Football League draft stock with a sensational performance in Indianapolis, running a 4.54.

Gesicki had 15 career touchdown catches at Penn State and averaged 11.5 yards per reception.

Widely regarded as the most versatile defensive player in this year's draft, Alabama safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was first off the board for the Crimson Tide on Thursday night. "It's just really cool and it's an honor and a blessing to say that I play this game".

McMillan suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first exhibition game past year but is expected to start in 2018.

Evans, a former five-star recruit from Auburn in 2014, finished his four-year career with 150 total tackles, including 74 last season to go along with 13 tackles for loss and six sacks.

On the final day of the draft they'll be in the market for a defensive tackle and backup quarterback.
