Bill Cosby to remain on house arrest

Cosby juror: I was convinced by comedy icon's deposition

In 2005, Harrison Snyder was 10 years old when actor Bill Cosby admitted in a deposition that he gave women prescription sedatives before he had sex with them.

Interestingly, the 22-year-old juror is too young to have watched The Cosby Show like many in the USA remember. Jurors said race and the #MeToo movement were never discussed. It was Mr. Cosby's own comments.

"When there was talk of a plea bargain, I said no", Cosby told Page Six previous year. "I don't watch the news ever".

"But, you know, I think back to the time when Camille and I went to visit Nelson Mandela in South Africa". The onslaught all but destroyed Cosby's career and his good-guy image as wisdom-dispensing, sweater-wearing Dr. Cliff Huxtable on "The Cosby Show".

Cosby is awaiting sentencing from his Cheltenham home, where he sexually assaulted Andrea Constand and where he is now under house arrest.

He cited the testimony of prosecutors' first witness - Dr Barbara Ziv, an expert in sexual assault victim behaviour - as key to explaining away numerous attacks the defense lobbed at Constand for inconsistencies in the story she told police.

A statement from other jury members also lines up with what Snyder said on the popular morning show.

Snyder also said he believed testimony from Cosby's chief accuser, Andrea Constand, who recalled for jurors in graphic detail how the now-80-year-old comic gave her pills that made her pass out and how she woke up to him sexually assaulting her at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

The investigation into Cosby was reopened in July 2015 after a federal judge, acting on a request from The Associated Press, unsealed portions of Cosby's deposition testimony from the civil suit he settled with Constand.

Prosecutors used Cosby's statements - which confirmed much of Constand's story and referenced his use of drugs in sexual encounters with other women - against him at both trials.

Snyder said it "wasn't an open and shut case", but added he had no doubt the jury reached the correct verdict last Thursday.

And, Snyder, said, the testimony of five other accusers who testified was not necessary for the conviction. Each one said they lost consciousness nearly immediately after being given a substance by Cosby - pills or a drink, presumably drugged - after which he sexually assaulted them.

But for at least one juror from the retrial at which Cosby was just found guilty on all counts, it was this piece of evidence, above all others, that secured Cosby's conviction.
