Robert Mueller gives list of questions to Trump's lawyers

Mueller's interrogation would also quiz Trump on Michael Flynn's activities during the presidential transition when he made several secret phone calls with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak about lifting sanctions.

Mueller also wants to find out Trump's thought process in deciding to fire Comey.

For example, when the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, was fired, the White House said he broke with Justice Department policy and spoke publicly about the investigation into Mrs. Clinton's email server.

The questions are the clearest signal yet that Mueller has enough circumstantial evidence to suspect the president of obstruction, and also has reason to believe Trump might have known of the Russian Federation links.

The Times lists the questions here.

Additional questions center on Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, who has pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his discussions on sanctions against Russia with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition.

Schiff said, "I want this special counsel to be looking at the issue of money laundering, and I don't recall seeing questions there about, did you obtain financing for your projects from Russian Federation?"

Mr. Mueller appears to be investigating how Mr. Trump took steps previous year to fire Mr. Mueller himself.

As per usual of late, House Intelligence Committee Republicans and Democrats issued separate reports last week with the GOP version declaring that there is "no evidence" of collusion between President Donald Trump, or his campaign, and the Russians. He is believed to be cooperating with Mueller. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents about those phone calls, which occurred in December 2016.

A source familiar with the matter told CNN in March that the President's legal team had created dozens of potential questions Mueller's team could ask in an interview based off the topics his team had conveyed verbally to Trump's team. He was sacked on February 13, 2017 - purportedly because he lied to Vice President Mike Pence about the phone calls. "Who played a role?"

Mueller has reportedly sought for some time to sit down face to face with the president. His lawyers have been negotiating terms of an interview out of concern that their client - whose exaggerations, half-truths and outright falsehoods are well documented - could provide false statements or easily become distracted.
