Was $228K Payment To Michael Cohen Tied To Stormy Daniels Hush Deal?

The new lawsuit, which includes compensatory and punitive damages to be decided by a jury, seeks more than $75,000 in damages.

Trump is facing another Twitter-related lawsuit, but this time it's for defamation and - in a twist that only the best screenwriter could whip up - the plaintiff is adult film star Stormy Daniels (whose real name is Stephanie Clifford). Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, filed the complaint in federal court in NY on Monday.

Her lawyers claim that the USA president used his substantial following on Twitter (51.4 million) to "denigrate and attack" Ms Daniels.

The president responded with a tweet: "A sketch years later about a nonexistent man". A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)! The White House says Trump did not have a sexual encounter with Daniels, and the president has denied the other allegations as well.

Stormy says that Trump never signed the non disclosure agreements, instead, the complaint claims that personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, signed the document on behalf of the president.

Ryan is representing Cohen in the face of the Russian Federation investigation, which Trump himself is reportedly in "panic mode" over, as well as in the parallel probe by US attorney's office for the Southern District of NY.

Trump's tweet was in response to the release by Clifford the previous day of a sketch of a man whom she claimed warned her in 2011 to "leave Trump alone".

Avenatti suggested on Twitter Monday that Trump knew about the alleged threat and had some role in it.

"Just because something isn't true doesn't mean that it can't cause you harm or damage".

In a phone-in interview with the Fox News show Fox and Friends last week, Trump appeared to push Cohen even farther away, stating that Cohen - who is generally described as Trump's personal lawyer - performed only a "tiny, tiny little fraction" of Trump's legal work.

Trump has argued that he was immune from that lawsuit.

The case is Clifford v Trump, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No. 18-03842.
