Gazans return en masse to Israel border, one killed, hundreds injured

Monday's inauguration of the U.S. Embassy comes five months after President Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, a move that outraged Palestinians as blatantly pro-Israel.

More than 300 were taken to hospitals, and three protestors remain in critical condition, including a 16-year-old who was shot in the head by an IDF sniper as he attempted to plant a Palestinian flag on the border fence.

The war crimes committed by Israel on the Gaza border over the last six weeks have elicited no critical response from the U.S. corporate media; in fact the killing and wounding of thousands of Palestinians has been treated as a virtual non-event.

The Israeli military is preparing for the possibility that many Palestinians will try to breach the Gaza border fence and enter Israel at once, report said.

Despite Israel's repeated use of lethal force, Gaza residents once again flocked toward the Israeli border on Friday, to demand the right of return to their homelands and to reject USA recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Meanwhile, a Israeli soldier was lightly wounded Friday evening in an apparent car-ramming attack in northern Samaria near the Jewish community of Shavei Shomron, reported the IDF.

The protests are scheduled to peak on May 15, the day the Palestinians call as the Nakba Day.

Thousands of Indonesian Muslims have staged a rally protesting President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. As a result of the embargo the overwhelming majority of Gaza's residents live in poverty and 43 percent of the population is unemployed, the highest jobless rate in the world.

Trump administration officials say the move is simply a recognition of a reality and that they do not in any way intend to prejudge the outcome of final borders or sovereignty in a peace deal.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar declared on May 10 that he hopes that Palestinians are able to penetrate the Israel-Gaza fence during the upcoming riots, which is essentially an admission that this has been Hamas's goal all along. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were driven out or fled homes in what is now Israel.

The Israeli military has faced global and domestic criticism over its use of live fire, with the United Nations and European Union calling for an independent investigation rejected by Israel.

"People will be coming back to work as the embassy branch of the Jerusalem embassy, and I think we're all very happy and excited to be participating in such a historic event", Friedman said. Palestinian refugees and their descendants now number several million people in the region, including more than two million in Jordan.

The Hamas-led demonstrations, fueled by despair in Gaza, are part of a campaign to break the blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt after the Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2007.
