Jared Kushner receives full security clearance

Jared Kushner walks out after President Trump spoke at the White House on May 18

But Kushner's permanent clearance was granted after career officials completed the Federal Bureau of Investigation background check process, according to the person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

In addition, Lowell said that Kushner had been interviewed a second time by the office of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

White House senior adviser Jared Kushner recently obtained a full security clearance, Fox News has learned, months after his interim security clearance was downgraded amid new rules issued by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. The first interview, which happened in late 2017, largely dealt with Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn., according to the source.

"His application was properly submitted, reviewed by career officials, and went through the normal process", Abbe Lowell said in a statement.

Abbe Lowell, who has represented Kushner in the Russian Federation investigation, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that Kushner answered all the questions that were asked during Kushner's second interview with the Mueller team. "Having completed all of these processes, he is looking to continue to do the work the President has asked him to do".

Kushner had reportedly been working in the White House, on subjects as sensitive as a Middle East peace process, and viewing classified materials on a temporary security clearance as he awaited approval on his background check.

His lawyer, who said Kushner recently sat for a second interview with Mueller's team, denied that those mistakes had anything to do with the delay.

"In each occasion, he answered all questions asked and did whatever he could to expedite the conclusion of all the (investigations)", Lowell said.

The FBI completed its thorough investigation of Kushner's financial activities and foreign contacts, a task taking more than a year and which had to be finalized before the husband of Trump's oldest child Ivanka could re-obtain permission to access the most closely guarded United States secrets, Efe reported.

Giuliani also urged the swift wrapping of the probe in the backdrop of former FBI Director James Comey revelation in the last days of the 2016 presidential race that he was reopening the investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server, according to several media reports.

Kushner failed to disclose those meetings on his initial applications for security clearance, raising concerns about attempts to hide them.
