Wildwood Police Release Beach Arrest Body Cam Footage

Wildwood Police have released three redacted body-cam videos Wednesday night of the violent arrest involving a 20-year-old at Wildwood beach who was suspected of underage drinking.

Authorities say the 20-year-old woman was combative during the arrest.

She is seen walking away from the officer when he asked for her last name. "That's it, I'm done with you", one officer says. "Once the officer says "you're under arrest", he has to continue with that arrest". "Matthew, they're choking me".

"Get off of me, don't pull my hair, what are you doing?" "We didn't even drink alcohol", she tells the officer. The alcohol belonged to her aunt, Weinman explained sternly but calmly, and she was on her way back.

As the second officer holds her legs steady, a third approaches to control the gathering crowd. "Upon the conclusion of the investigation in the coming days, and only after final review by the Cape May County Prosecutors Office, the Wildwood Police Department will release the findings and outcome of the investigation". "The officers were on top of her on the ground and that's when I just decided - there's so much going on everywhere - why not, just in case [record the incident]". Weinman faces several charges including two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The officer goes after Weinman, who backed away from him.

On Wednesday, Troiano Jr. softened his tone a bit, calling the incident unfortunate.

As Weinman shouts for her boyfriend, she turns around and slams an officer in the chest, which police say caused his camera to turn off. She kicked him and then I hit her a couple times. "I didn't do anything to get written up, did I?" "At that point, the police officer did what he had to do", Troiano said.

Dicht, Weinman's lawyer, said that in viewing the video, he did not see Weinman striking the officer and said it appeared that the officer was the one who escalated the incident.

However, she criticized their use of force and denied that she tried to run, instead she said she was backing up and tripped. "She probably would have just gotten a citation".

The officers involved in the arrest are Patrolmen Thomas Cannon, John Hillman and Robert Jordan. The officer can be seen striking Weinman in the head, and she is handcuffed and walked to a police auto.

"This young lady attacked our officer", Troiano said.

A court date was set for June 6, though Dicht said it will probably be rescheduled for an unknown date.
