Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Confirmed by Developer

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey leaks: is this the sequel to Origins?

Ubisoft's has officially confirmed the name of the next installment of its Assassin's Creed franchise: Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The clip posted to Twitter appears to show a pair of Spartans (one with an officer's helmet, its crest running side-to-side) engaging in a practice popularised in modern culture by 300; the Spartan state hit its peak around 650 BCE.

This also just so happens to fall in line with previous whispers we've heard about the game, which also claim the new Assassin's Creed title will launch in 2019. The leak originally came from upcoming Assassin's Creed merchandise, which was spotted by French site, JeuxVideoLive. Ubisoft hasn't yet commented on the Odyssey reports, but given Schreier's credibility and the franchise's history of leaks, it's likely that these latest rumblings will pan out. The game will introduce even more RPG mechanics to the series.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey has yet to be dated, but the sources expect it to arrive in Ubisoft's 2019 fiscal year, which ends on March 31st, 2019.

Last year's Assassin's Creed: Origins was a surprise hit for Ubisoft. Instead, it's said that you'll get to choose whether you play as a male or female protagonist, both of whom are entirely new characters. This window of release makes sense given that Origins took an extra year of development, but it does mean that players may be waiting a long time for an official confirmation.
