Man Utd Confirm Agreement To Sign South American Star In £52m Deal

What position does Fred play and how will he affect Paul Pogba at Man Utd

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Brazil worldwide midfielder Fred, the Premier League club confirmed on Tuesday.

United have always been linked to Fred, who is one of the members of Brazil's 23-man squad for the World Cup.

Brazil legend Rivaldo has claimed that Manchester United are getting a "wonderful player" after the club agreed a deal to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Shakhtar midfielder has cemented his place among Europe's elite at his position over the course of his stay at the Ukrainian outfit.

However, he is far more of a creator than goalscorer as his record of just 15 goals in five years at Shakhtar suggests.

Red Devils supporters will be hoping the Brazil global settles in quickly, though, after he features at the World Cup in Russian Federation.

The article says that Mourinho watched Verratti in action during Italy's World Cup playoff defeat to Sweden at the Friends Arena in Stockholm previous year.

Rumours were rife that the Red Devils had been chasing Fred since even before the English Premier League season had ended last month.
