Fekir to join Liverpool from Lyon

Nabil Fekir Liverpool Lyon transfer news

In an interview given to RMC shortly after signing for Liverpool, Fabinho praised Fekir, saying it would be "good" if he joined him on Merseyside.

Liverpool have allegedly reached a deal to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir. If reports from the Mirror are to be believed, Liverpool are hoping that the French club would agree to sell Fekir for a fee of around £50 million.

The Lyon captain is the Reds' primary target as they seek to add creativity to their attacking midfield options.

Anfield officials will continue negotiations on Friday, increasingly hopeful of a deal before the 24-year-old heads for World Cup duty.

L'Equipe has also reported that the France worldwide will undergo a medical on Friday.

The same article states that Fekir would be a natural replacement for Philippe Coutinho after the Brazil global completed a £142m move to FC Barcelona in the January transfer window.

But Aulas has revealed that the transfer is not close and is unlikely to happen before the start of the World Cup next Thursday.

Aulas' comments had cast doubt over the deal, with the notoriously hard 69-year-old telling Lyon's official website: "The record is at a standstill, there is no way forward".

According to the Independent, Lyon have changed their stance and are now prepared to sell Fekir to Liverpool before the World Cup kicks off. "(We) have not set a base price because we have not discussed this yet".
