Microsoft's cloud engineers are now working on a new game streaming network, which Spencer says will allow for "console quality gaming on any device", including mobile devices. Sony has created hit after hit with games like God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Bloodborne that make the PlayStation 4 the best console you can buy if you care about exclusives. They also revealed they were doubling its game development studios by adding five new creative teams to the Microsoft Studios family. The studio is led by gaming entrepreneur Jeff Strain, who previously worked at big firm Blizzard Entertainment and co-founded Bellevue game developer ArenaNet.

More news: United States soldier killed, 4 others wounded in 'enemy attack' in Somalia

Microsoft released the latest iteration of its Xbox, the Xbox One X, this past September.

But this wasn't Microsoft's only big news. Not only that, but 343 said the game will undoubtedly change between now and release.

It's not clear how the game will play out - the teaser is extremely broad.

On Sunday, Microsoft's Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed the division was working with the company's cloud technology team to come up with a way to stream games with console graphics quality to any device. We know it'll be developed by 343 Industries, and it'll apparently use a new engine called "Slipspace". Perhaps even slightly humbled by the lessons it's had to learn this gen, it's stacking the deck for the next battle for gamers' hearts - and it's a battle it just might win.
