11 dead bodies found hanging in Delhi's Burari

Police say they have found 11 bodies, 10 of them blindfolded and hanging from the roof of a home in the northern part of the Indian capital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the head of the family is running a plywood shop in the same premises. Every morning, their shop would open by 6, but when it didn't till 7.30 today, a neighbour went to check on the family and was shocked to find a lot of them hanging from the grill ceiling.

Police have cordoned off the home in Burari in the north of the capital where the bodies of seven women and four men were discovered Sunday. Police said they received a call at about 8 am from near Guru Govind Singh Hospital in Sant Nagar of Burari area, informing them about the tragedy. He alerted the other neighbours and informed the police.

One of the dead was 75-years-old while three others were minors. "We are also checking the CCTV footages", the officer said.

Police were investigating what led to their deaths, Mr Kumar said, adding no suicide note was found.
