President Trump Plans To Announce Supreme Court Pick On July 9

President Trump says he will announce his choices to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.

The poll was conducted before Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement, the Kaiser Foundation said.

Kennedy, 81, the court's now longest-serving member and second-oldest justice, announced on Wednesday that he is retiring, effective on July 31. When you want your way, you don't nominate someone who will challenge your opinions. But Trump could move to appoint a much more reliable conservative.

Ninety percent of Democrats said the vacancy would make them more likely to vote for a Democratic Senate candidate in the November 6 election, compared with 81 percent of Republicans who said the issue would make them more likely to vote for a Senate candidate from their party. He had released a version of the list during the 2016 campaign and seemingly used it to assuage Republican voters uneasy about his conservative bona fides.

"Political speeches are just that, but the next day, I'm ready to get to work", Heitkamp said in a statement following a private meeting with the president.

Trump talked about his plans in comments to reporters as he boarded Air Force One, CBS News, Bloomberg News, the Washington Post and USA Today report.

It's not certain who has made the president's shortlist, but many outlets have reported that Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a former Kennedy clerk, is the frontrunner.

"This is a battle line that has been drawn that literally will put women's lives at risk, that undermines our civil rights, our human rights", Gillibrand said at a rally in Washington.

Thomas Hardiman, who was Trump's second choice to fill the late Antonin Scalia's seat in 2017, is also in the running. After Trump's appointment of Neil Gorsuch previous year, Democrats fret that a fifth conservative judge on the Court could put the right to abortion at risk. Mike Lee (R-Utah).

Leo is on leave from his position as executive vice president of the Federalist Society, an influential conservative legal group that regularly gathers like-minded lawyers and judges at conferences and on law school campuses nationwide. "Heidi will vote "no" for any pick we make for the Supreme Court", Trump said.

But McConnell has insisted Kennedy's successor would be confirmed in the fall and demanded the "president's nominee be considered fairly and not subjected to personal attacks".
