Cops accused of using app to decide on arrest in Georgia

Cops who arrested a speeding female motorist on the FLIP OF A COIN are placed on leave

"Wow, these people put my freedom in the hands of a coin flip", she said.

Now the Roswell, GA officers are suspended after bodycam video shows them giggling and using a coin-toss app to decide whether or not to arrest Sarah Webb who admits she was speeding.

The officers are heard discussing a range of punishments in the video. It's been raining. You're going over 80 miles an hour on this type of a road.

Brown said Webb was caught barreling down the highway on wet pavement.

"I'm so sorry", Webb replied.

"What do you think?"

The officers then returned to Webb, still waiting at her auto.

Brown was then heard saying, "Hold on", as she opens a coin-flip app on her phone.

The pair of officers sat in their vehicle debating the matter for a short period before opening up a coin toss app and determining that heads meant arrest and tails meant release.

Later they discuss the coin flip app.

Heads, you're released and tails you go to jail - those were the odds Sarah Webb faced in a traffic stop in April.

And it was not clear whether the results of that virtual toss, which came up tails, influenced the officers' decision. But Wilson responded with "23", which is police code for arrest.

Officers Courtney Brown and Kristee Wilson had the discretion of citing Webb for speeding or arresting for the more serious charge of reckless conduct. It's tails, and Webb wins a contest she did not know existed. It makes me so upset to know what they have done to her, ' she wrote.

Atlanta news station 11 Alive alerted Webb of the footage.

Both officers are now on administrative leave, and all charges against Webb were dropped.

Roswell Police Chief Rusty Grant said an internal department source told him about the incident right before July 4.

Webb said she would like to see the officers fired.

Former Los Angeles Police Sgt. Cheryl Dorsey told IE she thinks this isn't the cops' first time doing this "because they did it easily".

"I just don't want this to happen to anybody else because the next person might not get so lucky", she said.
