Hillary Clinton Just Snubbed Trump's Meeting With Putin In Four Simple Words

President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin speak at a summit

The White House struggled on Wednesday to contain a political outcry and confusion over U.S. President Donald Trump's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, denying Trump ever meant to say that Moscow was no longer targeting the United States.

At the start of a Cabinet meeting at the White House, a reporter asked Trump, "Is Russia still targeting the US, Mr. President?"

"We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy", Coats said.

He added that he thinks he's been tougher on Russian Federation and its president, Vladimir Putin, than any other USA president.

"If we're in the majority, we'll probably be more effective and you'd see a lot stronger things protecting American security than you will with this majority, which seems so afraid of President Trump".

"President Trump, I just saw your press conference with President Putin and it was embarrassing", says the Austrian actor.

"I let him know we can't have this, we're not going to have it, and that's the way it's going to be", President Trump said.

TRUMP: My people came to me. they said they think it's Russian Federation. This was a belief that put him at odds with his intelligence chiefs. I have tremendous faith in Dan Coats.

Throughout his presidency, Trump has decried the investigation into Russian meddling in the election as a "witch hunt", and repeatedly maintained that there was "no collusion" between his campaign and Russia. But Trump also appeared to question whether such statements would have an impact on Russian Federation.

Sources who attended the briefing told The Times that Trump was "grudgingly convinced" that Putin ordered the interference, a sentiment that stands in contrast to his comments at a press conference with Putin earlier this week. He said: "In a key sentence in my remarks, I said the word "would" instead of "wouldn't".

It also named other former USA officials, including someone it described as a former intelligence officer, Russia's state-operated RIA news agency reported.

Since the election, there has been great suspicion over the relationship between Trump and President Putin. "And I don't think he's going to lose that core part of his base that was responsible for him winning the primary, that propelled him to winning the general election". I want to focus on how we're going to ratchet down tensions.

One current United States diplomat, who said he was "at a f-- loss", called the development a step back in USA diplomacy, according to The Daily Beast.

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, a California Republican, ignored questions from a CNN reporter Tuesday about Putin's comments on favoring Trump.

On Tuesday, Trump read from a printed statement, and said he had misspoken in Helsinki.

"The sentence should have been, 'I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russian Federation - sort of a double-negative, '" Trump said.

On Tuesday, however, Trump backtracked and claimed that he had misspoken - that he had, in fact, meant to say that he did believe that Russian Federation had interfered in the election. On this I agree with our intelligence community. "I think that disclosure (on Monday) was done self-serving from his standpoint".
