Amazon UK chief foresees 'civil unrest' for no-deal Brexit

Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said Germany wanted to see an orderly Brexit.

He said the United Kingdom was preparing for all eventualities, and that more information about the planning would be made public later in the year in a series of "technical notices" the government would publish.

She told workers in a factory: "The future post-Brexit is going to be what we make it".

Speaking to the House of Commons" Brexit select committee, Association of British Insurers chief Huw Evans said that in the event of a "no deal' Brexit next year private pension firms and insurers in the United Kingdom would be left unsure if they may legally pay pensions or claims to customers in some European Union countries such as France.

"I'm confident we won't get there, but even if we did we will have the planning in place, the preparation in place, the operational matters in place from the infrastructure to the planning laws to deal with that".

"We believe that both the European Union and the United Kingdom government need to show more flexibility, and give greater priority to getting an early agreement that continues existing policing and security co-operation; otherwise, they will recklessly undermine security in both the United Kingdom and the European Union, and will let the public down badly."
