Cubs fan takes foul ball from a child

Two Cubs fans are getting a lot of slack after taking a ball that was thrown to a kid

Major League Baseball outfit Chicago Cubs have given a signed baseball to a child after a man was caught on camera snatching up a game ball the young fan had dropped.

Sensing his chance to pull off a truly cringeworthy and opportunistic play, the man sitting behind them pounced on the loose ball and gave it to the lady next to him. It turns out, despite social media and earlier reports, the adult fan had already helped the boy get a baseball earlier in the game. The kid got another baseball - signed by Javier Baez to boot. "Guy is A-OK so let it go people", Kaplan wrote.

The mother of the child who missed out on the ball in the video, also supported the man and released a statement through the Cubs, clearing him of any wrong doing. He legitimately took a foul ball from a child after it landed in the stands.

Meanwhile, Jeff, a fan wearing a red shirt in the video, said, "I was sitting next to the boy and the same fan helped him snag a ball a few innings before this".

This was later confirmed by NBC Chicago's David Kaplan. Still, judging from the boy's smile as he held the two baseballs from his front-row seat at Wrigley Field, his day at the ballpark seems to have had a happy ending. "The fact of the matter is, he got balls for three kids".

"The whole world is calling this guy the most evil guy in the world for being a ball thief", said Chuck Mycoff.
