Russia’s Putin says he invited Trump to Moscow

WH Bans CNN Reporter For Asking Trump About Putin

On Wednesday, White House aides banned CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins for shouting questions Trump did not like, setting off a national debate about how the press does its job.

Ms Collins said she had tried to ask Mr Trump questions about Russian President Vladimir Putin's postponed visit and recently released tapes documenting a conversation with lawyer Michael Cohen.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday he had invited U.S. President Donald Trump to Moscow and that both he and Trump were ready for further summits, but that conditions needed to be right for a meeting to take place.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper is done with the hypocritical way President Donald Trump's White House deals with the media.

Even as he refuted that Collins' denied access amounted to a ban, Shine repeatedly declined to tell reporters what word he would use to characterize the White House's decision to block her from attending the event.

"Our staff informed her she was not welcome to participate in the next event, but made clear that any other journalist from her network could attend", Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.

Journalists and free press advocates responded to the obvious disconnect in the White House's statement. "When you ask her if we ever used the word ban, then I will answer that question", he responded.

And Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway said the incident showed the need broadly for more "civility" between reporters and the White House.

CNN condemned the ban as "retaliatory" and "not indicative of an open and free press".

As NBC's Kasie Hunt tweeted, "These were questions from the TV pool reporter, which means this is effectively an action taken against all the TV journalists covering the White House".

The White House Correspondents' Association also issued a harshly worded statement condemning "the White House's misguided and inappropriate decision today to bar one of our members from an open press event after she asked questions they did not like".

"This type of retaliation is wholly inappropriate, wrong-headed, and weak".

"Reporters asking questions of powerful government officials, up to and including the President, helps hold those people accountable", the group said.
