#BRUHNews: Colombian Drug Gang Puts $70K Bounty On German Shepherd

Drug dealers put price on German Shepherd's head

One Colombian drug syndicate has already put a $70,000 bounty on Sombra's furry head, looking to quickly quash the 6-year-old canine crimefighter, officials said.

The gang is offering the equivalent of £53,000 for anyone who kills her, according to police intelligence.

After her six hour shift is over, Sombra is transported in a van with tinted windows back to her kennel.

However, Sombra has also been responsible for over 245 drug-related arrests at Colombia's two biggest airports.

Colombia's soaring output of coca - the raw material of cocaine - is testing traditionally close relations with the United States.

Sombra, which means Shadow in English, has sniffed out record amounts of illegal drugs in the Urabá region, which traffickers use to access the sea.

Her detective work is essential in Colombia, which is wrestling with soaring coco production. But even with advanced technology, experts say on-the-ground detective work such as Sombra's is critical.

"Sombra" poses for a picture with youngsters at El Dorado International airport in Bogota.

She is so darn good at uncovering tons of cocaine that the powerful Urabeños mafia wants her dead.

Gulf Clan leader Dairo Usuga alias Otoniel - one of Colombia's most wanted men - subsequently offered the reward to the killer of the dog, according to the report.

The threat to Sombra's life was discovered via an intercepted phone call.

"Sombra the German shepherd has become the terror of criminal organizations", a recent story in Colombia's El Espectador newspaper stated. In addition to the coach, the animal is accompanied by additional officers to enhance security during the move. With her neon reflective vest, pointy ears and gaping mouth, she looks more like a beloved family pet than a veteran drug-sniffing police dog. She also found another delivery of coke hidden inside a machine.
