Trump Echoes Giuliani: 'Collusion Is Not A Crime'

CNN Legal Analyst: I Would Be Surprised If Mueller ‘Didn’t Conclude the President Obstructed Justice’

Trump has for months said there was "no collusion" between his campaign aides and Russian Federation and that as president he did not attempt to block Mueller's probe.

Mueller is expected to adhere to U.S. Justice Department guidelines to not indict a current president, but is expected to write a report on his findings that could, if wrongdoing is alleged, be turned over to Congress.

In addition to possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia, Mueller is also looking at whether Trump has tried to obstruct the investigation.

"It's just flat-out untrue", Mr Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, said on "Fox News Sunday" about the claims.

The former NY mayor said if Trump is interviewed by Mueller's legal team, "Our real concern is they're going to set up a perjury trap", attempting to catch Trump, who often misstates facts, in a lie, which is a criminal offense. However, even Gollum knew in his heart that stealing was a crime, so perhaps he could teach Giuliani a thing or two about what is or isn't illegal.

Democrats have argued that Mr. Mueller is likely to subpoena Mr. Trump, which could spark a debate over whether a sitting president can be subpoenaed.

Giuliani added that the Russian Federation probe "has been continued as an illegitimate investigation".

Giuliani also vaguely questioned Mueller's fitness to lead the investigation, which he took over after Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey a year ago.

"I believe we are coming toward the end, so I'm talking to some of the people that were involved in the original part of the investigation", he said.

"In several interviews on Monday, Giuliani asserted that collusion is not a crime".

"There is No Collusion", Trump exclaimed in a tweet at 3:35 pm. "You start analyzing the crime-the hacking is the crime. The President didn't hack".

Bloomberg Opinion editor Timothy L. O'Brien slammed Giuliani's veiled attack on Mueller, for which he offered no evidence, as "McCarthyite".

Dershowitz said to pay attention to whether the prosecution hints at Manafort's relationship with Trump.

Should Manafort be convicted, the investigation by Mr Mueller could gain some momentum. In fact, prosecutors said last week they don't expect the word "Russia" to be mentioned at all. He added, "I think we'd win it". He also faces charges of witness tampering.
