YouTube Is Rolling Out a Dark Mode on Android

YouTube for Android gets dark theme

YouTube has finally given Android users a "dark mode" option, four months after the same feature rolled out on iOS devices. The feature was first rolled out for desktop last year, and it was followed by iOS in March this year. There's an option to turn it off, as well as one that dismisses it. Those who totally hate the dark theme's particular shade of gray unfortunately can't opt for a deeper shade of black, though. Simply tap on your account icon in the upper right-hand corner, and go to Settings Dark theme, to toggle Dark Theme on or off.

The dark theme is actually dark grey rather than black and the theme will be applied to the app's background, settings, search pages, and anything else that is white. Unfortunately, Android users have been forced to wait for YouTube dark mode despite the desire for it. When you get the update, you will be able to find it in the Settings on your YouTube app. Users should start seeing a YouTube update today with the new option to switch to dark mode. But now most applications are coming with Night Modes which are activated as soon as the darkness falls. Reports have confirmed the pitfall of using apps with white background in the low light conditions. There is an added benefit on video apps, though. The compact, minimized video player and all tabs also get this same treatment. With this being accomplished, YouTube service features would finally be uniform throughout all operating systems.
