Video captures Brooklyn nail salon brawl, prompting calls for business to close

Brooms fly after botched eyebrow job causes brawl

A second video, recorded on the salon's security cameras, appears to show a larger group of people fighting.

It wasn't immediately clear if the two salons are related.

"So because she did not want to pay the $5 for her messed-up eyebrows, they attacked this grandmother and her two granddaughters with sticks, threw acetone on them and then called the police on them", activist Jasmine Johnson alleges. The customer said she paid something, but the store's owner said she refused to pay any of the money she owed. She was released on her own recognizance after a hearing at Brooklyn Criminal Court, according to the Post. The shop was closed for the day and Johnson encouraged viewers of the video to continue protesting and boycotting the business.

Protesters have gathered outside of a Brooklyn nail salon Monday after a viral video showed employees of the salon beating Black women with broomsticks and hurling acetone on them over an alleged eyebrow was dispute.

According to the nail association, an employee told them Thomas refused to pay for any of the other services she received, telling CBS New York that the altercation could have easily been avoided.

Police said Zhing was taken to the hospital before being arrested because of visible injuries to her face and body, PIX 11 reports.

Prosecutors were reviewing additional evidence and may later alter those charges, the station reported.

A protest was held outside the salon on Monday morning.

It's unclear when the salon will reopen and so far, no additional arrests have been made.

Michael Lin, manager of New Red Apple Nails, told NBC that he called the cops when Thomas refused to pay for the eyebrow job.

The ordeal has also sparked protests against the nail salon.

Police say one protestor hit an officer's back after throwing a bottle, according to Pix11.

"There is no respect for people in this neighbourhood", Gavin Gibbs, a 49-year-old East Flatbush resident, told The New York Daily News.

"We need them to know they can not make any money when they treat our grandmothers like this".
